What is that smell?

Does anybody have a dog that whines for no reason? I have a 95lb german shepherd/ black lab mix that enjoys to just randomly whine occasionally…ok a little more than occasional…like any day I don’t take him to the dog park. I cannot blame him because he IS a puppy and DOES have a lot of energy, but today and yesterday were definite no dog park days. It has been raining and hailing in Denver for two days now…and is supposed to keep up until Tuesday!

I figured his whining would be the same as any other day, just his pent up energy…but boy was I wrong. I am working on items for my etsy shop in our spare bedroom (that is not really “spare” anymore…I must admit) and he is not allowed in that room. He sat outside of the door and continued to whine whine whine… I take a break to get a glass of water and notice this awful smell. The kind of awful that makes you not want to take another step because you are scared about what is around that corner. As I continue to walk towards the smell I find the source. A gargantuan pile of dog diarrhea….not one…not two…a total of 3 separate piles across the living room carpet.
Being 8 months pregnant, bleach was out of the question…and I knew the pet stain removal would not do the trick on these piles. I frantically look for my “Real Simple,” magazine from April that discussed cleaning tricks around the house and someone swore that white vinegar is the almighty carpet cleaner.  I must say, thank you Real Simple because the carpet looks flawless! I will now use white vinegar on any carpet stain and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a carpet fix :]
In light of the rainy days we are having here in Denver, I have made a coupon code to receive 20% off my etsy shop over the next few days.  You can check it out at www.wickedlyclean.etsy.com!
What do you use to clean your place? Any horrid carpet stories out there??
Thanks for reading!

Monday Madness

Monday Madness [Share one of your crazy day stories so we can laugh together!]

Sunday is usually the day to relax….but not this past one. Denver had 4 days of rain…hail…and even snow. Being a state that has been so dry for years, this was almost unheard of! Usually it would be something to be grateful for…but not so much when you have a tree and landscaping company. You cannot climb trees when its hailing outside…you cannot dig trenches…you cannot aerate or mow lawns….no retaining walls…no fences…which means everything gets pushed back and of course every customer wants it done NOW. So Sunday rolls along…and it proved to be a full work day since it was the first dry day….which takes me to Monday.

Monday
*Day starts at 6:45am
*First landscaping call at 8:00am
*Second call at 8:20am
*OB appointment 10:00am
-I arrive at 9:40am… She doesn’t see me till 10:45am…as I am staring at the sign in the lobby that says, “Please notify us if you have been waiting for more than 15 minutes…” I decide to patiently wait.
-She scheduled an ultrasound for 2 weeks from now…I’m thinking, “Great!...on second thought..I thought there was not supposed to be another one..is everything ok?”
*Drive 45 minutes to candle supply warehouse for some orders that need to be shipped today.
*Qwest technician to come between 12-5pm
*4 more phone calls…
*Qwest technician arrives and wants to charge $100 for service that was not previously explained…no thanks!
*4pm…and still have not made it to the post office…candle wax is still curing!
*4:45pm printer needs ink!!
*5:25pm arrival at post office with 5 minutes to spare..thinks to self.. “I MADE IT! WOO HOO”
*5:50pm grocery store…..
*6:20pm…at checkout line at grocery store and customer calls refusing a call back…”must speak NOW.”
*7:00pm…call 6 customers to put on schedule
*7:30pm…Stomach grumbles…
*8:45pm…Israel finally gets home…we can EAT!
*9:25pm…Desperate housewives…my mother recently influenced me to watch this…thank you mom.
*10:00pm Out like a rock

Tuesday morning…
Israel calls asking me to run him some 10w-30 oil for his chainsaw…as I am pulling out of the driveway I hear CRASH THUD THUD THUD…so I get out of the car to check the driveway…and I see the trash barrel under my right wheel…

Everyone has done this before…you know…you look left..look right…hop in the car…pull forward…get out of car…look left…look right…no neighbors..WAHOO…quietly put trash can back in right place….continue your day and hope no one saw you :]

I am still laughing at the past 48 hours! How was your Monday everyone?

Happily able to finally post some of my mineral make up products on etsy...wahoo :]

Does your foot have to be in my ribcage?

Does your foot have to be in my rib cage right now?! 31 weeks and counting….
I have a new respect for moms now. 31 weeks pregnant with my first and the constant kicking, punching, jabbing, rolling in my belly sure is an uncomfortable distraction throughout the day. I know my respect for mothers across the world is only going to grow since the journey has barely begun, but wow…she really does take away my breathe already with her strength.  I guess I should be relieved because I am 6’1 making my abdomen rather long. Most people cannot tell I am pregnant or they guess that I am at month 4 or 5. The catch 22 is that she has consistently been 3-4 inches longer than the “average” baby each time she is checked…so whether I look it or not..I am still feeling it!

It is right at the moment when I want to take a break so I sit down…then KER-POW jab to the side…a little rollover…comes swinging around. Back to walking around the house I go with hopes that she will fall asleep. If anyone has some suggestions on what you did to relax your growing baby…please speak up!

Now that I am not working outside of the house, it was rather exciting to have more time to dedicate to Wickedly Clean my shop on etsy.  Today was the day to take pictures of products so I could replace the not so appealing ones I currently have listed…however that turned out to be rather disastrous. After spending a good amount of time taking the pictures…I transfer them to my computer…then give the camera back to my friend since it was hers…after she left I organized all of the pictures in appropriate folders in preparation to load them online and bam! My computer could not locate the image files… so back to square one with this process once she gets back home.  I apologize candles, lip balm, make up and soaps…the world does not know how truly beautiful you are yet…but I promise we will work on this over the next few days. Until then, I do appreciate your company…but please refrain from getting too comfortable with one another as I hope to find you new homes soon.
Until next time - Liz
